A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

Hi Bobby is nice of you to here from you, thank you. One of my goals is to visit smaller towns in Texas, I am going to put your town on my list of towns to visit when I do. Maybe we could meet for lunch or something and talk a little bit it will be a few months before I can do that but I am intending to do it. Thank you so much for writing and keep in touch all sure any information I have with you. Thanks again. Jack
I have 37 marker match with the Gary on family tree DNA, I do not know anyone named Gary and my family, but obviously there is some connection there. I have ordered my 37 to 67 marker test and I will see were that goes from there. Would be interested to know if you are any relation to the Whelchel family, or the Marksberry family. The Marksberry's are supposed to have a connection with the Douglas family but that is unproven except the DNA is the same, it would be interesting to know if you had any information. Thank you. Jack
