A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

I have this:
Herman George Douglas was the son of George Theron Douglas born in Franklin, New York, USA on 11 Jun 1852, and Olive Smith, born in New York, USA on Aug 1859.
George died in 1896 in Burke, Franklin, New York, USA. Olive died in on 1893.
They had 4 children: Charles Ernest Douglas born 1879; Edla Augusta Douglas, born 1881; Jennie Sophia Douglas, born1891; and Herman George Douglas, born 1889.
Olive was the daughter of Thomas Smith and Elizabeth Smith. I have nothing on George's parents.
