A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

I could use all the help I can get. I don't know alot, my fathers cousin had the family tree done, but didn't really share much with him. we are all at a loss, my grandfather passed away when my father was young, so as that goes, he lost touch with that part of the family. My fathers name is William George Douglas. I am trying to get a hold of my fathers cousin to try to get answers to alot of questions. i just didn't know where to turn and just happened upon this website.
