A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

I have just received a folder of material from New Zealand, so have a lot to work through at the moment. As we are having a rainy summer, I do not feel guilty about spending time on our family history.
Yours aye,
William
Now, those deeds sound really exciting! I presume you mean that you have a copy of the deeds? Do you also have a transcript that you can share with us?
As you will be aware, William is key to many researchers anxious to trace their ancestors back to Scotland and/or England. I would love to be able to find a way of getting back passed that hurdle.
How do you fit into the Douglas family? Can you trace your family back to William?
It is good to have you onboard,
Yours aye,
William
