Grandfather, Gordon James Douglas, sister Mary, and brother Alan Douglas, my grandfathers brother, Alan was superintendent of traffic police ,Sydney., Their father's name, my father told me this, was Syd Douglas, architect in.Sydney. My grandfather fought against Rommel in the middle east, returned to Australia and drove trucks, for the military to supply Birdum, then on to Darwin providing supplies, I was 10 when "big Jim passed away in Barellan nsw where he lived with his wife, one Jessica Dicker, (granny), oh well that's about all I know, I have seen, when I was a kid, the full Douglas.regalia, including a massive mounted broadsword ,never forgotten! Oh well, I know there's Douglases everywhere, but my fascination with all of this has been profoundly reignited by your research, Andrew, thank you Mr Douglas, sir
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
Great Grandfather, Syd Douglas, apparently well known in Sydney

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
