Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
James Van Rensselaer Douglass (1815-1879?) and Nancy Maria Douglass (1813-1850)-- husband and wife but both were Douglasses. He was born in Chazy NY, son of Capt. Jonathan Douglass (1785-1868) and Lucy Douglass (1788-1871), another double Douglass marriage. They all seem to be descended from Asa Douglass and Rebecca Wheeler, buried in Stephentown NY. Asa Douglass (or his son, Asa, I can't tell which) was affiliated with Ethan Allen when Fort Ticonderoga was taken.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
Asa Douglass (1715-) and Hannah Douglass Brown, sister of Asa

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
