Patricia ,The English burned Virginia’s 1790 Census during the War of 1812 , There is a George Douglas in Amherst county Virginia in 1790 , Most of what we know about Head of Households comes from tax lists , I found mention of what I take to be the same George Douglas on a muster roll for the Second Virginia Calvery Serving under Cabell . Back when the pandemic hit I requested some information on George Douglas of Amherst from the library in Amherst,Virginia.... They have information - but failed to expand on it . Maybe you will have better luck.
