It seems that Samuel H. Douglass and his sons, George, and Alexander (and John?) were among the first settlers to arrive in Kentucky in about 1775, coming from Virginia. Samuel H. Douglass (the same Samuel H. ?) received patents on land in Chilhowee Township.

Which does not tell us who his parents were.  yet.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
