Hi Sarah,

just saw your message about George Washington Douglass. I am very interested in finding out anything you may know about him. He is a son from my husband’s descendant, John Douglas’s first marriage.

I do have a decent amount of information about George that I have found while researching

Hello Sarah - thanks for making the connection.  As you can see by the various message threads, I do believe there was a connection with Geo W Douglass and Joseph Douglas(s).  We believe the DNA shows a close linkage with these families but haven't been able to find the key link.  We've been able to find to trace Sue's Douglas(s) family movement from NC>GA>AR but having difficulty finding proof of Joseph's father/mother and all of his siblings.  It is our belief that Wm. & Joseph were brothers, and we highly suspect John as 1st cousin or nephew.  We have most of the Douglas(s) family info on our Ancestry.com web page.  We can send you that linkage if you are interested.  Not sure if you have seen this but The Georgia Douglases web page [https://georgiadouglases.wixsite.com/genealogy/copy-of-a-f] does list George as being the son of John Douglass and discusses his migration to MS.  We hope this helps.  Glad to share anything we have and to work with you.  We've not be able to find anything on Douglass migration from Scotland to USA.  Good luck with your ancestral search.  We have found the Douglas Archives as a most helpful site!   Bill & Sue (Douglas) Dolezal

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
