A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

Hello Eleanor Dorta My name is Kathleen Maytum and my mothers name is Leilani Drazkowski. Her fathers name is Dennis Martin Drazkowski who is the son of Helen Drazkowski. So what does that make us in relation? Wow Im so excited that I recieved your email for I am really interested in my Great grandmothers side of family. I am very interested to know more of the scottish heritage and where my great grandma comes from more about her life for I was a kid i would go to the nursing home she lived at and feed her lunch on sundays for her son (my grandpa) would be in church so me and cousins would get to spend time with her but being she was 96 years old when she past things were hard to understand for she had alzhiemers. I am patiently awaiting a response from you and anticipating telling other family about our emails. Thank you agian for contacting me for our family is bigger than I thought.
Sincerely Kathleen Marilyn Maytum
p.s. I heard my great grandma had a sister. And that her sister raised another child of my great grandmas. Meaning my grandpa and great uncle had a sister. Is this correct?
