A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

Hi Lilian,
I am interested in Walter Michael Aubrey Douglas as my father is descended from one of his daughters, Georgina Honora Douglas. I was fascinated by the photo as I have never seen a picture of him. Do you have the whole photo? I would love to see more of it or to know its context. I don't know much more on the Douglas side but I have a bit on the Barnes side. Kind regards, Ben Giffard
Thank you for your contribution re the children. However, you now have me inquisitive about the photograph you have added. I note he is not wearing Douglas tartan! However, if this is the man who married Christiana, then I have his name as Major Walter Richard Barnes.
Did he change his name - and were there children?
I am really keen to learn more about Christiana's grandfather, Thomas Willan. He was a very interesting character, but I still know nothing about his parentage, or who he married.
Hoping you can help!
Yours aye,
William
