A collection of historical and genalogical records
Given my Y-DNA is R1b-U106 by YSEQ and 23andMe and FTDNA it is S163631. Homogeneity is testing is useless to science. Diversity is needed. When you Y-DNA has been in America since about 1650 give a geometric binary doubling progression one is going to have that of about all found in America, including a small bit from W. Africa to Barbados. Family chased out those which silence free speech and flew the Union-Jack. At the time of Union the Armstrong went first then the Ellott without the Norman Puritan "i" . Since I carry the Y-DNA, as a math-science computer instructor of FORTRAN and Microsoft BASIC first put on MITS Altair PC in Albuquerque, New Mexico, USA. When doing your family history, if someone outside your family that does not carry the Y-DNA, tell you your incorrect they are not by their behavior genetic genealogists. The purchase owns the data from their DNA, when a firm denies access to your data which your paid for the results they receive as far as the scientific relevancy is concerned is irrelevant. You may want to kick out family by silencing. Science and genealogy is base on comments and sharing information. Not the best writer in the world, but computers, and genealogy handed down from dad are hobbies of mine.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
