A collection of historical and genalogical records
The chieftain line, the Elwald-Ellot-Eliott of Redheugh became of Redheugh, when land was passed from Archibald 'Bell the Cat' Douglas, fifth Earl of Angus to their family squire the clan chieftain a 10th Robert Elwald to be chief.
Angus is Archibald 'Bell the Cat' Douglas, fifth earl of Angus.
Though at the time the name was pronounce near The Hermitage Castle, as the 28th chief Arthur, father to the present chief has said 'Ellot'.
The reason for this is because Douglas, the Earls of Angus brought what where called 'ellot', farmers which farmed 'ellot', a lot measure on it's sides with the Edinburgh, Scottish standard in line that of an 'el', between the length of a yard and a meter.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
