My third great-grandmother was Sarah Bruce. She traces back to King Robert Bruce of Scotland. In that family tree as they do all branch off one branch leads to Christine Douglas 1524. Her father was Sir Archibald Douglas of Glenber about 1503 death 29 September 15 70
Archibald’s wife was Agnes Keith 1503 death 1548

William Douglas of Glennbeive 1456 to 1513

William Douglas Earl of Angus 1437 date death unknown
Margaret Hay 1484 date of death unknown
\
George Douglas Earl of Angus, 1378 1402
Mary Stewart 1458 date of death unknown

William, first Earl of Douglas, 1327 to 1384
Margaret Stewart, 1332 to 1393
I got this information offer family search, my great-grandmother was Mary Melinda Watson, and my great-grandfather was Stephen T Whelchel, Mary Melinda Watson grandmother was Sarah Bruce, I trace the Bruce family back to Forrester. I trace that family back to the Douglas family and that family to the Stewart's. So the above does the results of what I found. I have completed 111 DNA markers and I tested with National graphic Geno 2.0 program. I believe I am possibly related to the Douglas is through the Marksberry family also but none of them have tested their DNA that I can find out. I'm confident in the results that I have found as I found a second cousin who is a genealogist and this prodigy trail is the same as mine. Thank you. Jack

Hello Jack,

First off, let me set the record straight, and mention I am a Mrs. Not a Mr.  J    I am a Watson, and married into the Morton/Douglas line.  I was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada as a kid when my father came here to teach at a university.  I will be happy to share what I know about the Watson’s with you.  Most of the Watson’s seem to hail from the East of Scotland, and many in the North East.  Aberdeen is where my father was born.  I was just back there 9 months ago and when you look at the phone book you will find pages and pages of Watson’s, so there are a few of us in that area.  J  My father and I have always been keen on genealogy and have traced back some branches of our Watson line to the 15 century, with direct support from birth/death/marriage certificates or registry entries.   Send me a private msg and I will give you my email address and we can discuss Watson Family information.

Cheers!

PJ

You refer to Sir Archibald Douglas of Glenber.

Is this Sir Archibald Douglas of Glenberbervie?

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
