It seems that in 1645, Glenrassie was held by Viscount Kenmure;
Gilbert seems to be his tenant.

Welcome, Archie, to our group.

'Your' Gilbert was an interesting chap, and I would like to know more about him.

He was present at the Battle of Bothwell Bridge on 22 June 1679. It was fought between government troops and militant Presbyterian Covenanters, and signalled the end of their brief rebellion. He seems to have suffered for his religious beliefs.

I have not been able to identify anything about his parents.

Perhaps Bob Henry has made progress?

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
