Welcome to our group, Anne.

Eckford is a small village located between the larger towns of Kelso and Jedburgh in the Scottish Borders.

I am not familiar with Mailfied, but Mayfield is in Edinburgh.

There is no such county in Scotland as Rosleyshire.

I have a note thatMilton Foster Douglas 1826–1899 and his wife Eliza Jessie Telfer 1825–1914 and had five children.

I also have a record of a Jane Telfer marrying John Sword Douglas in 1862. I wonder if there is a connection? John's father was Andrew, born in Bonjedward, which is six miles from Eckford.

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
