Thank you for that information about the book.

Almost all of the colliery has disappeared, but evidence still exists.  Sadly no machinery or buildings remain to help tell the story.

Welcome to our community. Petrina.

The lands of the old estates in central Scotland have slowly but steadily been eroded. I hope that you are successful in recording Blythswood's history.  I am confused between the Blythswood in Renfrewshire and that in the Glasgow city centre.

I hope someone here can help with this research.

Additional to Blythswood, the family also had links to Mains and to Souglas Support.  All have been eroded by modern development.

Yours aye,

William

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
