I am recovering (I hope!) from an eye operation that did not go as planned and my sight is severely limited, so researching is not easy.

My source for this info was Source: B0010 Jamaica Law 6 Register Marriages II & III,1871-1878, II, p. 269.

Welcome to our community, Simon,

I have not made much progress researching the Douglases of St Andrew Parish, but do note a Daniel Douglas who married Letitia Dorsett on January 20, 1875, in Clifton, St. Andrew.  However, I have no further dtails other than they were both born in about 1750.

There are other members of the Douglas Archives who are researching their ancestors in Jamaica, and perhaps they can help. If you plug 'Jamaica' into the search box at the top of the page you should get some results.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
