I have the folowing notes on his parents, but they have yet to be checked:
Adam Douglas, born 12 Nov 1768 in Sharplaw, Hounam, Roxburghshire, Scotland baptised: 12 December 1768 in Hownam, Roxburgh, Scotland Death 25 January 1853 in Hownam, Roxburghshire, Scotland He was a 'country carpenter' and Euphemia Isabella Black, born 11 June 1778 in Algengton, Northumberland, England baptised: 06 JUL 1778 in Harbottle, Northumberland, England Death 17 June 1864 in Kirk Yetholm, Roxburghshire, Scotland
Alexander Bogue Douglas born 26 Jul 1842, Clifton Hill Scotland, died 16 Oct 1924 in Maryborough Queensland Australia, son of George Douglas born 26 Apr 1802. He married Annie Leather, born 4 Feb 1857 in Queensland, Australia on 16 Aug 1875. They had 13 children. George Douglas, my grandfather was born on 18 Jun 1885 in Tiaro Queensland and died on 16 Jul 1971 in Brisbane. He married Jean Violet Griffiths, born 9 Aug 1881, in Bundaberg, on 27 Apr 1910 and she died on 9 Aug 1960 .
They had five children, including my Mother, Phyllis, who was born on 17 Dec 1918. The other four children were sons and they did not produce any male descendants.
My apologises for not replying sooner but your information was “lost” and I have only just found it. Do you have any details of the parents of George Douglas born 26 Apr 1802 and their parents?
I am rather hoping that you might be able to help me build on them?
I guess your ancestors are
Margaret Douglas, (daughter of George Douglas born 26/4/1802, Hownam, Roxburghshire, and Elspeth Bogue born 21/3/1802) born 26 July 1844 Clifton Hall, Midlothian, Scotland married Joseph FORBES 14 May 1866 at Maryborough, Queensland, Australia and died 11 November 1916 buried at Tiaro, Queensland, Australia. Joseph died 4 October 1917 buried at Tiaro. Joseph listed his occupation as farmer and residence as ”Laburnum Bank” They had 7 children.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

The above would seem to confirm a connection with the Douglas family of Swinside

Welcome to our group, Douglas
A couple of years ago, I pulled together some notes on the Douglas family of Clifton Hall.
I am rather hoping that you might be able to help me build on them?
