Hi Christopher,

With reference to your post of 30-8-2022, I would agree with you that Captain Andrew Drysdale may have been one of the first genuine immigrant settlers to arrive in Australia, however, before him there were a number of prior convict settlers - see here:

Re your second post on 30-8-2022

Help to establish the Drysdale name and decendents after Thomas Douglas died in 1503

Your search for the missing link between Douglas and Drysdale has been the objective of many competent Drysdale & Douglas researchers over the years but it has not, as yet, been found, the '1503' document that circulates online is obviously not genuine & this has been discussed at great length on this and other forums.

You say you have traced your "lineage back to Jhone Drysdale born abt 1560 in Aloa clackmannan" - in this respect, I suggest you forget about what Ancestry has to say on this subject and log into the FamilySearch website where virtually all the known (and documented) Drysdales in the 1400s & 1500s may be found in the tree with the root person "Mr Drysdale" b. circa 1410  ID reference G2S7-JYJ.

Best regards

Welcome Christopher

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
