Thank you Ron, for the welcome and link to the will. I have previously located this and have found it difficult to read, but now have a contact at the local library family history section who has asked me to bring it in.... I really appreciate your suggestions. I chose not to open the other links as my computer sent out a warning, not to.
There are a number of records on official Australian websites that may help you, this site has a copy of the Will of William Douglas who died in Longford in 1878 plus other records:
Maybe if you could advise details of parentage you have found this could help, I've looked at the marriage record on familysearch and couldn't find details of any parents.
Also maybe you could consider joining the Australian Immigrants sub-group as there is a lot of info there and also members with Australian connections:
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

Hi again Rhonda

Possibly you already have this will and it may not help on parentage, but hopefully there is a record somewhere else that will assist
Best regards
