Welcome to our community, Gregor.

This is one of the more interesting links to Douglases on Guernsey:

There are more to find!

Yours aye,

William

I found some leads in the Douglas Archives. Its surname index lists 21 people under McIntyre, 24 under MacIntyre, and 2 under M’Tyre:

https://www.douglashistory.co.uk/famgen/surnames-oneletter.php?firstchar=M

I checked a few MacIntyre entries from the Glen Noe family:

Duncan, 1st of Glen Noe: https://www.douglashistory.co.uk/famgen/getperson.php?personID=I150449&tree=One

James of Glen Noe: https://www.douglashistory.co.uk/famgen/getperson.php?personID=I150421&tree=One

Duncan, 4th of Glen Noe: https://www.douglashistory.co.uk/famgen/getperson.php?personID=I159612&tree=One

The family details shown there include Campbell and Macdonald relatives, but I haven’t established a Douglas connection from those entries to Gregor.

The Archives says its database includes people closely connected to the Douglas family or connected by marriage, and cautions that some material is unverified and should be checked against other sources:

I didn’t locate a publicly indexed FamilySearch profile for the exact name Gregor Duncan McIntyre. Here’s the FamilySearch search page:

https://www.familysearch.org/search/

I also found a WikiTree introduction post by someone named Gregor McIntyre, but it doesn’t establish that he’s the applicant or show a Douglas connection:

May need to ask Gregor for a family-tree link, or the names, dates, and birthplaces of his parents and grandparents, along with his earliest known McIntyre/MacIntyre ancestor? That would let us compare his documented line with the Archives entries.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
