Welcome to our group, Keith.

As you say, you are related to Robert Douglas through marriage, Mary  Beveridge also marrying 13 November 1884, Kirkcaldy, William Kinninmonth, born about 1859, died 28 March 1901 - Kirkcaldy, your great grandfather.

I have not properly identified Robert Douglas, but he is mentioned here: http://www.douglashistory.co.uk/history/Businesses/robert_douglas_kirkcaldy.htm

He may be the son of Robert Douglas, photographer (see my recent blog)

William KININMONTH and Mary BEVERIDGE were first cousins through their MUIR mothers, which might explain their being married in Edinburgh in 1878 when they were both then working in Kirkcaldy.

I am keen to resolve this little mystery as it has been niggling for some years.

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
