I have been collating details of those with a connection to Thornhill, in Yorkshire.

This will be published in the next database update around the end of the month. Nothing startlingly new, but it is easier to make connections.

I will add new material as it comes.

Welcome to our community group, Trevor.

I think you may have been loking at a Dutch or German site, 'van' translates as 'of'. Henry was Lord of Lochleven, an ancestor of the Earls of Morton.

I am interested in learning more about the Douglas family in Gateshead, and their origins.

Can you help?

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
