Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Not quite sure where it starts, the farthest back I know of is Sir James "The Black" Douglass. I've also heard that I am related to Stephen Douglas, who went against Lincoln for President for the south. I have a history on the family name, but I wanna know where I, as an individual, came from.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
Sir James "The Black" Douglass
Tags/keywords - used to help people find you

If you can prove you are related to Stephen Douglas, then you are a descendant of William Douglas 1609/10 of New London CT.  Check in groups for the group who is working on his ancestry.

Welcome to our community network, Charlibriiix,

I just had to Google your name - and the only reference to come up was this page! Ah, well, we will just have to learn more about your Douglas line as we help you explore your genealogy tree.

How can we help?

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
