My 4x great grandfather Major James Douglas married Atcha Babee and had
four children to her in Bombay India where he served with the East India Company.
I thought she must be Indian but I found on the IGI index that the name Babee
was common in Drenthe Holland in the 19th century.I think now she might be
Dutch. Is Atcha a Dutch name. Cheers. Steve.

Welcome to the Community Network, and thank you for your contribution on General Robert. I would be delighted to learn more about him.

I am unable to throw any light on Charles at the moment, but will have a root around and see what turns up.

If I can be of any assistance, then please do get in touch.

Yours aye,

William

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
