A collection of historical and genalogical records

Nice portrait photo of Douglas Barron and wife Isabelle Gray Douglas. Photo by John Patrick. I think this may have been taken around the time of their daughters wedding

Charles & Isabella Barron had 7 children. They lived in Dysart, Kirkcaldy and by 1891 in South Leith, Midlothian. Charles Barron had various occupations; hand loom weaver, servant, gardener and sometimes hemp net maker.

Charles was born 1 June 1824, Auchterderran, Fifeshire to William Barron and Alison Douglass (both from Roxburghshire).

Isabelle Gray Douglas was born 16 June 1823, Dysart, Fife to Charles Douglas and Agnes Balfour.

This Barron family has a surviving headstone at the Kirkcaldy Old Kirk church yard. Headstone is broken in two halves.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
