William, I assume you are correct in this assesment As you know a very  small detail can make all the difference. I should hove located this some time ago, but a slight difference in my search revealed this. Now if I could just retrace my steps 100% that would be helpful.

I am unable to identify Urbani Scotti, though we must assume that he and his daughter were notable in Piacenza at that time (1629)

Edited: Granddaughter, not daughter, I think.

Further thoughts are that the Scottus family are not part of the Douglas Scotti family, but from Ireland, and that they arrived there with the Vikings.
Being in the Douglas stronghold of Piacenza may be just a coincidence.

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
