A collection of historical and genalogical records
Born January 20, 1831 in Alabama. Married Julia Emily Kennedy, Dec. 28, 1854 who preceded him in death. Died April 28, 1907 in Corsicana, Navarro County, Texas. He was in the Confederate Army, having been a member of the Douglas Battery 1861 - 1865 commanded by his cousin, James Postell Douglas. He does not have a Confederate military marker for his grave in Oakwood Cemetery, Corsicana, Texas. Some of his occupations were a clerk in a hotel, and he sold real estate in his later years.

His father is Robert E. Douglas, born November 20, 1797 in Lancaster Co., South Carolina. He died December 25, 1868 in Galveston, Texas. Robert's first wife, Sophia McLellan (birthdate unknown) died February 5, 1840 in Talladega, Alabama. They had at least three children, Priscilla, Mary Jane, and John Monroe.
Robert E. Douglas' second wife was Mary Fuller. They had at least one child, Walton Eugene Douglas, b. June 29, 1846. At age 17, Walton E. Douglas mustered into the Confederate 1st Regiment, Alabama Reserves (62nd Regiment Infantry). I have a tentative death date of Sept. 24, 1920 in Jefferson, Alabama, but need to do more research on that.
Thank you for this James.
Who was his father?
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
