Sounds like a very interesting site and back story. I certainly love the details on this cross. If this is any indication of the grandeur of the church's design & aesthetic it must be quite beautiful? Hopefully, it will not be closed for too long.
This is in St Bede's Chapel, St Conan’s Kirk, Loch Awe.
This is an amzing church designed by a Douglas who changed his name to Campbell.
I have passed it many times, but never stopped. (tut tut) Soon, it will be closing for refurbishment.
Interesting detail to notice: a version of St. Brigid's cross coming together at center of the larger cross. Cros Bride / Crosog Bhride
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
