Hi Anne,

Welcome to the Douglas Archives.

I've quickly checked through my usual places and can see that your GG grandfather is considered to be somthing akin to Australian Royalty:

https://australianroyalty.net.au/tree/purnellmccord.ged/individual/I20831/Henry-Wynter

This website also gives some good details on the family line you are following:

https://www.wikitree.com/wiki/Wynter-68

Henry Wynter's parentage in Aldeburgh is obviously a well researched but long standing mystery and I can only offer the following sources (which you probably already have) and wish you luck in your research, maybe someone else can add to this.

Henry Wynter Australia arrival card in 1937 onboard City of Edinburgh

Marriage of Philip Wynter of Aldeburgh to Ann Hamilton on 26 December 1789 at St Georges Church Hanover Square

Best regards

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
