A collection of historical and genalogical records
Welcome to our community, Brandy.
I have the following for Robert Buson Douglass II;
Born 10 Mar 1758 in Augusta County, Virginia
Died 10 Jul 1837 (aged 79) in McMinn County, Tennessee
He and his wife Elizabeth nee Robertson are buried side by side in Salem Baptist Church Cemetery, McMinn County, Tennessee.
Her parents were, I think, William and Lettice Robertson. William seems to have been born in Ireland.
Robert MAY have been the son of Robert i. Douglass and Mary nee Cummins.
Robert Douglass was born about 1706, in County Antrim, Northern Ireland, his father, John Douglass, was 46 and his mother, Mary, was 46. He married Mary Cummings in 1739. They were the parents of at least 3 sons and 6 daughters. He died on 4 September 1794, in Campbell, Virginia, United States, at the age of 88, and was buried in Campbell, Virginia.
Mary Cummings was born on 6 January 1720, in County Down, Northern Ireland
BUT
This does not seem to tie in with his (or his father's???) will; see here: https://www.werelate.org/wiki/Person:Robert_Douglas_%2844%29
Or maybe it is just me who is confused? What do you think?
Yours aye,
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
