Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
It is a Scotch Irish line that lived in Frederick County Virginia, USA during the early 1800's and late 1700's. My 3rd great grandfather was James Douglass b 1807 d 1850?? somewhere in Virginia and married Eliza Deck b 1816 d 1899, on 04 Jan 184 in Frederick, Virginia. We have a 1850 OHIO US census showing us they moved to Ohio, USA in the late 1840's and in 1860 James was missing off the Census.

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
