A collection of historical and genalogical records
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?

Yes.
Well done!
Sorry for the delay, David - I have been away for a few days.
The best way to get information onto the website is for you to send me a GEDCOM. Direct input is not possible as there are too many spammers out there.
Next best is to send the info in an email that is easy for me to copy and paste, or if there is a large amount of material, in an attachment.
Many thanks for the offer.
Yours aye,
William
Nope - I'm the other one - Gilbert Denison, brother of Benjamin, son of Daniel & Lydia.
Sorry - some of mine did end up in Michigan though - my personal ones ended up in Iowa though :-O
very cool! Yep - Gilbert is my ancestor :-)
and now the gang is all here, well, the male portion that went to Chautauqua county, NY anyway :-).
I don't have much info on your ancestor, but you are welcome to it. I even started tracing the oldest brother, Edmund and his line, so have more on that line.
I don't suppose you have any photos do you? About 5 years ago someone was going to do a book on Chautauqua county sherrifs and they didn't have any for either Gilbert of Benjamin. I have very few old photos. (my Douglas was my great grandmother, Rachel)
Talk to you soon
Julie
I descend from William Douglas, b. abt 1610.
Samuel Townsend Douglass is in my database. I am missing information to understand how you descend from him. Would you share? I have quite a bit of information about Samuel's lineage and will share gladly.
Julie Hornung of the Wm Douglas b. abt 1610 research group descends from Benjamin and then Gilbert Denison Douglass.
There was another Samuel Townsend Douglass, b. 1853, son of Silas Hamilton Douglass, brother of your Samuel Townsend Douglass. I presume you know about him.
Are you related to us through a female Douglass?
Best regards,
Ed Douglass, FTDNA kit no. 78870
