A collection of historical and genalogical records
I traced my line back to about 1801. William Douglas born abt 1801(Mother from Virginia and father from South Carolina); Moses Lafayette Douglas born 1848 in Ohio died in 1927; William Jasper Douglas born 1870 in Ohio died 1935 in West Virginia; Alvie Leroy Douglas born 1905 in Ohio died 1966 in West Virginia. At one time there was a second s on the last name. Supposely my grandfther dropped the second s because he got tired of the jokes about the ass part of the name.
David Douglas
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
