"I have. I have been researching these people and this area during this time period for a long time. Genealogy sites, censuses, marriages, births/deaths, trying to connect families with the same names in the same areas. Alas, nothing. It makes sense…"

"I guessed that, but wanted to be certain. Not only is James a deadend for me, but so too is Mary Collier. I believe that there is a DNA trace of James.  Are you aware of that study?  I think he is a deadend there too! Have you investigated…"

Hello!

I have had this perplexing problem for a while that I can't seem to figure out. My 4th great-grandfather James Elisha Douglass from Early County, Georgia area has no clear parents to be found. Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
