- I'm looking for the line of Rev William Douglas, who moved from Scotland to Virginia in the 1700s and compiled the Douglas Register. As best I can tell he came from Wigton and is the son of William Douglas (buried in Clachans of Penningham) and Grizel McKeand, and the grandson of Gilbert Douglas (Possibly buried in Glenrassie, Penninghame or Over-Gogar, Midlothia) and Margaret McIlroy. Then the line disappears and I can't find anything about them.

William Douglas and Grizel McKeand come up in discussions from time to time. One reason is that William is not necessarily the son of Gilbert and Margaret.
It could be that he was born in Cockpen, Midlothian to William Douglas (1649-1668) and Isabel Elizabeth Kennedy (1645-1668)
Nobody is quite sure. But have a good root around the Douglas Archives. The couple appear in several diferent pages.
