Profile Information

Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
George Douglass possibly born in Carlow in the 1808-1811 timeframe. Souse's name was Ann Dobson. They are found in the marriage bond regoster for Laois and Offaly in 1834.
Several children born in Ireland: Samuel Marlborough (1835),Sarah (Wicklow 1837), Thomas (possibly Monasterevin in 1842), Eliza (1843), George (1847), Mary (1847), Martha (1849). Based on the Monasterevin location I have found a George Douglass at 3 Main Street which looks correct for a person with a trade of bootmaker.
Who is your earliest known Douglas ancestor?
George Douglass born in Ireland and spouse Ann Dobson. Lived in N. Crosby, Leeds & Grenvill Co, Canada about 1858

Peg,

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
