A collection of historical and genalogical records
Welcome to our community, Maria.
The more information that you can share, the greater the chance that someone may connect withyour family.
I have a note:
William Douglas, was born in Jedburgh 1819. He was a blacksmith and worked as a journeyman, North Shields for three year before marrying Mary Dixon in 1842. They emmigrated to New Zealand in 1843. On their wedding certificate, William's father was also recorded as William Douglas. His wife Mary Dixon's father was Thomas.
This does not seem to be a match, but is a coincidence. I will dig deeper to see if I can find anything more.
Yours aye,
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
