A collection of historical and genalogical records
Robert,
You told me that you cannot find any good evidence that the Randolph or Randal DOUGLAS in Richmond Co. Virginia was the grandfather of my John DOUGLAS. However, there is a lot of circumstantial evidence that he was somehow related.
I'm attaching your file on the DOUGLAS Family and its connection to your HEADLEY Family. You said that the statement that Randal DOUGLAS was born in Scotland is pure guesswork.
Welcome to our group, Robert.
I have a note that 'your' John Douglas is a descendant of early arrival Randall Douglass, also known as: "Randal Dougliss", "Randolph Douglas", "Randall Douglass"
Born in March 1679 in Scotland
Died in 1730 in North Farnham Parish, Richmond County, Virginia, 'British America'
Might this be correct? I have not yet checked sources and the detail is not yet in my genealogy database.
Are you a member of the Douglas DNA project?
Yours aye,
William
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
