".....William's (1717-1757) son, William Drysdale (1745-1825), was also Town Clerk of Kirkcaldy, and acquired the estate of Pitteuchar, in Kinglassie parish, in the early 1800s..."

Russell Lynn Drysdale maintains a page on that family in the Drysdale archives section of this site here:

Also the Familysearch website indicates Drysdale ancestry for William back to the mid 1600s. Family search ID LH5P-W13.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
