Welcome to our group, Sharon.
I note a George Douglas born about 1803 in Hownam, Roxburghshire, Scotland who was buried on 13 Feb 1886 in Tiaro, Queensland, Australia. He married Elspeth Bogue and had five children. Elspeth Bwas born about 1804 in Inchture, Perthshire, Scotland. She died before 1861 in Britain.
The children appear to have been born in Kirklsiton. So the family moved around before emigrating to Australia.
I have not identified George's parents - yet. There may be some clues on this page: http://www.douglashistory.co.uk/history/families/douglas_of_swinside.html

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
