Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
I am researching the Douglas/Douglass line that settled in Pennsylvania from Scotland in the 1600's, I believe it was. When I was younger, my father had a copy of the lineage of our family that Bea Douglas had done in the 1970's, which was some feat back then! She actually traced our Douglas lineage from when we immigrated from Scotland. I cannot find the copy my father has, but it is in this house. When I do find it, I will be able to add more names. I know there was an Angus Douglas. My father is James Ross Douglas (b. Mar 9 1950 in Charlotte, North Carolina). My grandfather Edsel Calvin Douglass (the second 's' was dropped when he joined the Navy during WWII-b. April 19, 1929, in Chesterfield County, South Carolina. He is buried in Philadelphia Baptist Church Cemetary in Stanfield, North Carolina). My great-grandfather John Ross Douglas (b. March 9, 1905-d. April 9, 1964) is buried in Douglas Mill Cemetary in Chesterfield, South Carolina. In that same cemetery are numerous other Douglas family members, my great-great grandfather John C. Douglass (b. Aug 26, 1856-d. Jan 7, 1930). His father William Douglass is buried in Virginia.

I was unable to find a history of the Douglas Mill.  Do you know whose mil it was?

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
