A collection of historical and genalogical records
There has been much chat about your family over the years, but I am not sure it all answers the questions we want to know.
You have probably seen this, and have access to it: https://paperspast.natlib.govt.nz/periodicals/TAH1972.2.24.11
It looks like you have some relatives in this site: https://www.rootschat.com/forum/index.php?topic=765189.0
William
Welcome to our group, Waimarie.
I assume this is your family:
Adam Landell(s) (b. 1813, Alnwick. d. 1883 in NZ) and Margaret Douglas (b., Alnwick(?)). Apparently they married in 1832 (supposedly Gretna Green, but no records seem to exist). Margaret died at sea in 1849 on the Ship Douglas. They had 8 children. Adam remarried in 1850 to Elizabeth Dibbs in Adelaide, Australia. I believe Adam was a gardener at Alnwick Castle
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
