A collection of historical and genalogical records
I have some leads on the Douglas family of Norfolk. Much of it has not been substantiated but I feel we are on the right track. I shall present this and then return to our Lt Col Edward Douglas.
Edward Douglas born 1658, Norwich, Norfolk, England, died 1644, married in 1590. His wife was born in 1570. Then, I have Elizabeth Douglas, born about 1623. Last I have Henry Pendleton, son of George and Elizabeth, was born 12 August 1580, at Mancroft, Norwich Norfolk and died 15 July 1635 at Saint Stephens Norwich, married Elizabeth Douglas in 1649, who died in 1708.
Henry Pendleton and his second wife, Elizabeth Douglass, had two sons, Nathaniel and Phillip Pendleton. Nathaniel and his brother, Phillip, came to Virginia. Nathaniel Pendleton was a clergyman. His brother, Phillip Pendleton married Isabella Hurt in 1682 and they had children. Descendants of this line are living. Further researchis needed on our line. I feel strongly that our line descends from Edward Douglas born 1568 in Scotland and was the son of a James Douglas. This is but a hypothesis and has yet to be demonstrated.
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
