Children of James Goffigon and his first wife, Leah Willett

Nathaniel Goffigon  mar Frances Dunton 19 Dec 1772, dau of Levin Dunton, Sr., cons; Samuel Aitchison security. See Marriages-Northampton Co page 45. Nathaniel was born 10 Jan 1747, Northampton Co., and died 31 Jan 1808, in Northampton Co. Frances was daughter of Levin Dunton and Frances Waterfield. Frances was born 1752 -in Northampton Co. Nathaniel was a prominent figure in the county and was instrumental in forming a Baptist church in the county. He, also. fought during the Revolutionary War. Nathaniel Goffigon  raised his nephew, Hillary Hunt, after his sister, Rose Warren, died. It was at Hunt's Point that Nathaniel Goffigon welcomed Elijah Baker  at Mrs. Hunt's home (Rose). In 1785 Nathaniel Goffigon deeded 800 yards for the erection of a Baptist church. See Whitelaw, Virginia;s Eastern Shore, page 123.

Children include Frances, who married Thomas Hunt (same family but not my line) 18 May 1791. Frances mar William Jarvis, Jr., 14 Dec 1795, as well. There were children by both marriages.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
