A collection of historical and genalogical records
I shall now provide a narrative on the six children of Capt William Willett and his wife, Ann Stringer. The children are four generations removed from Lt Col Edward Douglas,
It is probable that William Willett, Jr. was the first child of the family as we find William Willett's mother, Ann mentioned as a witness to the will of William Willett, Jr. Capt Willett was a witness as well. See Wills, Deeds, etc., # 26, 1725-1733, page 27, Northampton Co., William mentions his "loving wife" Rose as well as his son, Thomas and daughter, Mary Willett.. Wife Extrx. "My friends, Thomas and John Goffigon to assist her". Thomas Goffigon was a witness, along with William Willett;s parents. Rose, his wife, was a daughter of Thomas Goffigon (third witness in the will of William Willett, Jr.) who mar Elizabeth Duparkes, dau of Thomas Duparkes and Elizabeth---.Will of Thomas Goffigon's will Deeds, Wills, etc., 1718-1725, page 66, Northampton Co, Thomas wrote his will 5 Mar 1720 and was proved Apr 1720.. He starts with "my daughter, Rose Willett, followed by son, James Goffigon, then, Thomas Goffigon, and, last, John Goffigon. Son, Thomas Goffigon, Exec, "Friends, John Robins, Sr., and Hillary Stringer to assist him. We shall be encountering numerous Goffigons as we uncover the ties of of these individuals. The Goffigons are an ancient family that resided on the western coast of Ireland. They were an aristocratic family and the ancient spelling of the name is "Gaffagan". We, now, direct our attention to the "Duparkes" family, quite often written :"Du Parkes". Will of Thomas Duparkes, Orders, Wills, etc., #14,, 1698-1710, page 135, gan, Co, written 3 Dec 1702 and proved 1 Mar 1703. :to "loving wife, Elizabeth", son, Thomas Duparkes refers to son, Thomas Gohogan (Goffigon) and his land. To dau Sarah Duparkes, Ann Duparkes (under 16), son-in-law, William Jarvis, to son-in-law, William Spady, "to my grandchildren, Thomas and Rose Gohogan. Wife Extrx. Rose Goffigon, widow of William Willett, Jr. mar Francis Stokely
William Willett, Jr. and Rose Goffigon had two children as mentioned above-Thomas and Mary Willett. Thomas Willet mar Tabitha--- and left a will dated 11 Feb 1752, Northampton Co I shall stop here as my intent is to bring down those lines that relate to me. I shall add that Mary Willett mar Nathaniel Fitchett. Capt William Willett left 400 acres to his grandson, Thomas Willett. To his granddau, Mary Willett (who was not yet married) Capt Willett left a "mulatto girl Dinah,"
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
