A collection of historical and genalogical records

Hello William,
I do some research and I find something very interesting on my ancestor and my family tree.
Louis 1 Douglas (died in 1579), lord of Ployart, deputy of the nobility of Vermandois was married with Isabelle de Mandy (died in 1587). Louis 2 Douglas, born in 1567 died in 1607,( his son) was also Lord of Ployart, governor of Soissons and officer was married with Catherine d'Aumale.

Thank you, Kevin.  That is very interesting, and is supported by the publication ILLUSTRATIONS DE LA NOBLESSE EUROPÉENNE which I have just located.

I have a note that around 1540, Isabeau (?Isabelle) de Mandy brought the lands of Vaurseine to her husband Henri de Riencourt, lord of Parfondru.  It seems she married Louis as her second husband.

I will make the changes

Making conections

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
