Which Douglas line are you researching? Dates and places help making connections.
Elizabeth Douglass Droddy (Drawdy) b 1730, married Daniel in Augusta County, VA in 1745. Brother Robert Douglas who is believed to have been born in Antrim, Northern Ireland.

After reading a comment posted years ago, I am excited to add that the first substantial court records show Daniel appearing in the Shenandoah Valley of Augusta County, Virginia in 1754. He was listed in the “Augusta County Court Records, Chronicles of Scotch-Irish Settlers in Virginia, Volume I,” as Daniel Drody, Juryman, May 20, 1754. This case was James Patton vs. James Calhoun. The case was submitted to arbitration because Patton had charged a fee for two patents that he had received free. It is conceivable that Daniel was a resident of that county before 1754 in order to serve on a jury. Daniel settled in Augusta County, VA near Staunton in the Shenandoah Valley on the six acres he had acquired from Patton. Interestingly, in 1758, Daniel received a land grant in South Carolina very near Calhoun....

DawnAleta,

You might be interested in joining this group:

http://douglashistory.ning.com/group/douglasfamiliesinireland where you can exchange Irish material.

If you could find the old post you mention, it would be useful to us all if you could link to that by adding your material there so that everything is in one place.

many thanks,

William

The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.

Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.

Professions also help.

'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.

Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
