Hello Peter in Ipswich,
I am a migrant having arrived in Sydney in 1970 2 marriages and three daughters so not doing well to carry on the name....
However I have established the first known Drysdale to arrive in Australia Andrew Drysdale (shipmaster) with wife Rachel Turnball on 2nd April 1829 on 11 May 1829 they had a boy Christened John Alexander Drysdale by Rev John Dunsmore Lang who may have founded the presbyterian Church in Australia.
30 years later John Married Eliza Bradley of Ipswich Qld he ran the Goodna Hotel (you probably know it) six generations live in Brisbane and Bundaberg.
Further 15th March 1840 Anne Drysdale settled on a property called Barrangoop near Geelong Victoria .
John Drysdale has a memorial clock in the heart of Ayr Qld (I have viewed this close up)
There is a book called The Drysdales written or rather assembled by Duncan Carstairs Leslie Drysdale born 1947 in Stellenbosch a south african the book was first publiched in the U.K in 1978 has the publisher as being o.e.p. Inc., Tokyo.
Hope this helps you a bit,... first call Goodna pub
The more information you can give about the people you mention, the more chance there is of someone else connecting with your family.
Dates and places of births, deaths and marriages all help to place families.
Professions also help.
'My great-grandmother mother was a Douglas from Montrose' does not give many clues to follow up! But a bit of flesh on the bones makes further research possible. But if we are told who she married, what his profession was and where the children were baptised, then we can get to work.
Maybe it is time to update the information in your profile?
